A Roman Blind for Easter

I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend!

On Good Friday my Mum showed me how to make a roman blind for our kitchen, she is becoming an expert blind maker! Considering the price they charge for these in the shops, it was a lot easier to make than I thought it would be (provided you are very accurate with your measuring). Our kitchen looks finished now that it is up...

I've already got the fabric to make one for our bathroom and en-suite next!

Vogue 8815

Peplum tops are very popular at the moment and i've seen some gorgeous ones made using this pattern on other peoples blogs. I decided to make the long sleeve version in navy roma jersey after I saw the Fabric Godmothers version made in roma jersey. I was lucky enough to get the fabric from her shop when it was on sale too, bonus!

I'm fairly new to sewing and pinning out the pattern and cutting the fabric took me quite some time. In the end Bentley had had enough, he dropped his duck on my cutting board, a not so subtle hint to play with him!

And here's my finished top! It's lovely and cosy and it looks nice with my skinny jeans.

My Finished Beignet!

Finally it is finished and I love it!! I made it in a thick synthetic wool lookalike fabric which I got from M Rosenberg and Son at the Harrogate Knitting and Stitching Show in November. I shortened it a little bit and I didn't put in the pockets because they would have added too much bulk. Next time I'm going to make this in a thinner fabric for the summer.

Beignet and the Snow

I'm in the middle of making a Colette Beignet skirt. So far I am up to putting the lining into the skirt. As I used a fairly thick fabric for the shell I decided to do all of the facings in cotton so that it won't be too bulky. I think the patterned fabric makes a nice contrast to the brown of the lining and shell.

Have you seen Tilly and the Buttons version of the Grainline Moss Skirt? it's gorgeous! I will be buying this pattern next :)

On a side note what has happened to the mild weather that we had over Christmas? Winter has well and truly arrived now! Temperatures of -12 degrees Celsius last week, followed by a few inches of snow on Friday night. It looks pretty, but i'm not a huge fan of it.

Early yesterday morning Trevor and I walked Bentley whilst the snow was still fresh. Bentley absolutely loves it. He likes putting his head in the snow, eating snow, having snow balls thrown at him. He is quite daft!

Please excuse the lack of make up and grotty hat choice, it was early!

I'm engaged!!

On Christmas day Trevor took me to the beach where we went on our first date, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!! I couldn't be any happier!

Happy New Year!! xx

Jelly Roll Cushion

I have been meaning to start a sewing blog since I started to learn how to sew in the summer. Hopefully this will be a record of my improvement.

Here's one of the first projects I completed, a jelly roll cushion made using fabric from a Moda scrap bag. I followed the instructions on here but I made a smaller size as I didn't have long enough strips of fabric.
